Trinity Guildhall Speech and Drama Teaching Qualifications

The ATCL Speech and Drama Teaching Qualification provides a preliminary qualification broadly equivalent to the first year of a university degree in the national qualifications framework. This qualification is suitable for candidates wishing to open thier own theatre school, teach extra curriculum lessons or become teachers of stage/drama schools. Candidates who take the ATCL Teaching must sit a written paper on principles of teaching related to their discipline, submit prepared written materials including case studies related to teaching experience, and teach a demontration lesson related to their specialism, which is then discussed in a viva voce with the examiner.

Lessons can be taken weekly at the Academy or as a home online study course.


Requirements

Students must be a minmum age of 18 years. Proficient experience in drama is required including any of the following, Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 Exams, LAMDA Grade 8 Exams, A level Drama, or professional teaching/performing experience. Students who do not have any of the following must have an assessment and audition.
